The 2009/2010 season marked a turning point for Borussia Dortmund under manager Jürgen Klopp. Finishing 5th in the Bundesliga, BVB began to show the early signs of their impending rise. The team, built around a strong core of young talents like Mats Hummels, Nuri Şahin, and Neven Subotić, along with the experienced leadership of captain Sebastian Kehl, played high-intensity, attacking football. Lucas Barrios was the standout forward, scoring 19 goals in the league. Although they didn’t yet win silverware, this season set the foundation for Dortmund’s dominance in the years to come.
