From backheels to volleys, he made the spectacular look casual. But in 2022/23, it was about something else: presence, legacy, and one last dance with Sampdoria. At 40, he was no longer the main man, but still found the net once — becoming one of the oldest scorers in league history. Sampdoria’s season ended in relegation, and with it, Quagliarella quietly closed a seven-year chapter in Genoa. It wasn’t a fairytale finish, but legends don’t need perfect endings — their stories are already written.
