The 2005/2006 premier league season was Wayne Rooney's second season with Manchester United, after making the switch from his boyhood club Everton to Manchester United for 37.million euros, which was a lot of money at the time. At that time Rooney was only 18 years old but the hype surrounding this young english kid was immense, he was england's new poster boy.
Rooney showed then in the 2005/2006 season that he could handle those huge expectations. Sementing himself in a legendary Manchester United Team that went on to win everything over the next few years. 
However in the 2005/2006 season Rooney helped Manchester United reaching the second spot in the Premier League. Scoring 16 by himself and assisting another 9 in 36 games which earned him the best young player of the season award.
